Weekend Round Up - Sunday 6th September

Weekend Round Up - Sunday 6th September

Stefan Rance8 Sep 2015 - 13:49

With the Surrey Youth League kicking off this coming weekend there were a whole host of sides in friendly action on Sunday....

There was an inter club friendly as the Under 11s had their first match in the 9-a-side format with good 8-2 win against the Under 12 Colts. A hat-trick from Ruben Doe, a brace from Kyan Soni and one goal apiece from Cameron Masawi ( on his debut), Auron Delia, and Will Taylor (a peach of a free kick). Tom Webb scored a long distance screamer for the under 12s, with Torun Farrelly adding their second. The scoreline was a little harsh on the under 12s, who were strong and competitive throughout.

The Under 12 Youth got a great 3-2 win in our first game in charge of the boys. We played against Kingston Town Wanderers, who are starting in the super division, which is 2 leagues higher than us. We also had no keeper so we had to use our outfield players for this game! We went 2-0 up in the first half, with our goals coming from Ben Saunders (captain for the game) & Wagih Eldakhakhny. After the break Kingston nicked two quick goals to level the score at 2-2. For the last 20 minutes we looked fitter and wanted it more, and our possession paid off with a goal from Conor Hancock 5 minutes from time.

The Under 9 Bucks had a solid 4-0 win over Barnes Eagles at Bushy with Josh Rowe, Quincy Patterson, Tommy Rance and Savan Soni all scoring. The Barnes manager after the game was highly complementary of the boys both on their ability and the way they conduct themselves on the pitch.

The Under 9 Stags had their first game of the season with 2 new boys and 3 from last year. Tommy Rance, Jack Lay and Liam O'Neil from the Under 9 Bucks also played. The team lost 2-1 to Worcester Park Colts and took the lead through Dhruv Khanwalkar with a controlled finish from 6 yards and held on until the last couple of minutes before conceding. Anyone currently in Year 4 who wants to play this season this team is still looking for a couple more players to join the team. Email Stefan.rance@gmail.com for more information.

The Under 9 Colts were due to play Junior Bees but the opposition didn’t turn up, Worcester Park agreed to play a short 15 minute game for the boys and the Colts won 3-0. Max Sturton scored a penalty before a brace from Ellis Sales Bourne completed the scoring.

The Under 11 Colts made the short trip to Marble Hill Park, Twickenham this morning. The purpose being to introduce 6 new players to last season’s stalwart contingent and remind the locals that Rugby is not the only sport played in Richmond! Playing 4 short games of 15 minutes. The team began the first game with delightful passages of play and for large parts of the hour dominated possession against an long established team in More Mead FC.
Understandably we struggled to maintain shape at times and players were asked to play in a variety of new positions to ensure everybody had at least 30 minutes of game time. A little more structure, particularly in defence, and the Colts should enjoy the new season.

The Under 10s won 6-2 away to Corinthian Casuals. The goals came from Freddie Waites 2 Kevin Koka 2 with Bailey Berry and Jake Coley getting one each. Luca de Cost contributed with 3 assists. Matched with some great defending by Conor O’Neil and a solid performance from Lewis Kaill in goal as usual.

Finally the youngest team within the club the Under 7’s played out an exciting 5-5 draw against Walton Casual’s under 8 side. They will start their first season in the Surrey Youth League on the 20th September.
