Era!

The new look Colts featured three debutants against level six Moormead and ran out 4-2 winners with all four goals scored by the in form Jacob. Two good strikes from distance in reply from Moormead, who seemed better than level six by at least a division. Nevertheless it was the Colts who perhaps should have added to their tally with four or five good chances going begging. John Blanco came into midfield for his debut and looked like he could pull the strings there as fitness develops. He has some great skills and vision in his locker and will pick the locks of many a level three defence. Preston did little wrong at right back on his first appearance with his natural ability clear for all to see. Freddie Cooper has settled in really well and gave an assured performance at centre back. Finally trialist, Ed, hustled and bustled to earn himself an offer of a lucrative Colts contract as preparations continued for next week end's curtain raiser at home to the Tornadoes of Laurel Park. Ed will certainly give defences a lot to think about and will link up well with Jacob when the opportunity arises. Arvinho, now in his 17th campaign with Hampton, put in an all action display reminding those present of a young David Batty. Special mention for Sam Roberts who justified the captain's arm band with an excellent display. Hampton's Mr Versatile once again showed how important he is to the Colts squad. We all were praying for him to score in the final quarter as he enjoyed a rare cameo up front but having turned his man inside out to create a good chance he.....erm......missed. This was a real squad performance that showed that the Summer's hard work had paid off and the Colts go into next week with high hopes.
