Match Report By Craig Taylor

Today the U13 girls came up against Cobham Falcons.

It was a tough game and ,although Cobham are towards the bottom of the league, they are a decent team and caused us a few problems. Thankfully we managed to come away with a 1 nil win and although it wasn't our best performance we managed to grind out a win, which was probably deserved on the balance of play.

Our goal came courtesy of a long throw, then after a bit of pin ball in the box Nancy Gibbs showed great composure to drag the ball back before quickly firing a goal into the bottom corner. Other than that we couldn't add to our goal tally. Bo Taylor, supported well by Isla Hiscott and Amelie Fitch probably had the best chances, but their keeper had a storming game and saved numerous times when we were sure Bo was going to score and extend our lead.

At the back we had to be alert too; Ivy Lewis and Harriet Weinberg protected the defence consisting of Lulu Costa, Daisy Kelly and Sadie Wadham. Sadie and Daisy made some excellent challenges while Lulu Costa read the game brilliantly today, sweeping round to clean up the few times they did managed to break through.

Mia Laing performed well in goal, saving a few decent shots, reacting well and also coming of her line well to shut the angles. Also her kicking was great today!

In midfield Violet Daley, Daisy Sullivan and Amelie Ruffle gave us their typical high energy levels. The first half was probably the best I have see Daisy Sullivan play and was unlucky not to put through the striker will a lovely weighted pass.

All in all we are happy for the 3 points. It is a very tight league with the top 5 teams (out of 8) all on 9 points from 4 games, we are one of these teams! It is anyone's guess as to who will come out on top.

Thanks,
Craig and Andy
