This match was scheduled to be played away but Claygate were unable to book a pitch and so it was held at King's Field. Unfortunately, home advantage didn't help as Under 13 Colts suffered their third straight defeat losing 1-9.
With a squad of only 12 and having one player absent, this game was played with no substitutes. Jack Manning volunteered to take a turn in goal and performed really well. There was plenty of work for him to do with Claygate dominating play and firing off plenty of shots in the first half. By half time we were 0-5 down but heads were still high.
We came out for the second half and lost another couple before finally netting one of our own thanks to a superbly flighted corner by Harvey Gladwin. Mason Hill finished it with a fine header at close range. Claygate bagged a couple more before the final whistle blew.
Despite the loss, spirits were better than last week and there are aspects of our play that are improving. But, there's plenty of work for On Side to do at training on Thursday!
