Following the previous week's comparative success in the cup, it was disappointing to see the Colts so comprehensively beaten by Sheerwater. Not only was there a gulf in size - Sheerwater had several lads over 6 foot tall, but there was also a gulf in ability. Quite simply our team could not compete.
At half time, Hampton were 0-10 down and it was a very tough half time talk. But credit to the lads, they all decided to come out fighting in the second half and managed to grab a couple of goals. Piers Cramp and Liam Fisher both finishing well. However, it wasn't enough and Sheerwater came back at us scoring another 4 before the full time whistle.
There were glimpses of good football from the Colts. Louis Norman battled as hard as ever and Piers Cramp was relentless in his tracking and tackling. But too many individual errors and a desire to 'get rid' of the ball rather than pick a pass meant that we conceded possession too often.
Onwards and upwards. We'll dust ourselves down and get ready for Sunday which will be the last home game for a few weeks.
