This Is How

Born with a probable case of Anencephaly and certainly out of wedlock, there was always a strong whiff of Johnsons & Johnsons baby powder about me. A family caught in the crossfire of Scargill’s coal and Thatcher’s “Iron”! No matter how much the family would bathe, we never quite managed to unburden ourselves from deep injustices of our time.

Genetically predisposed to being skint, I am perfectly comfortable with the idea that we were honorary examples of the Dirt Poor.

So much so the Rag & Bone Men who fortnightly passed our family abode, nicknamed "Plywood", momentarily fell silent; seemingly sad and certainly bereft. Tipping head and hat they would "accidentally" slide miscellaneous items of clothing onto the road from the back of their cart.

Brothers/Sisters this was as close to the Father Christmas narrative our clan would get!

With a crack of reins these R & B’s managed to muster just enough energy to giddy up the horse and bellow out "Rag & Bone" without losing a grip of the rolled up cigarette perched delicately on the bottom lip.

After a fissiparous midfield performance in the cup, I was looking for a cohesive response from a Knights side reeling from a “flask knockout” in way of penalties last time out.

The narrative today "Generosity"!

Well in Sport generosity is about as misplaced as Scargill's hairline or Thatcher's heart.

The Knights set about this league game with zeal and craft. Doverhouse Lions purred yet the Knights stifled any potential roar with passion and belief. No we do not win easy but we do win fair!

Overcoming a Doverhouse side who trounced us in the cup a year or so ago sure felt good!
