Mind!

It's about time I came out.......

I do not have a dishwasher!

The morning after the night before, bare witness to FIFA 's Manager of the Month and weekend touchline chugger, clean off the remnants from yesterdays Sunday roast.

I ponder but a few things. Is it all really worth it and where did all this crockery come from?

Small moments!

So when team Captain and Club stalwart, Bertie Ferguson, remonstrates a deep desire to play centre back is second only to the deeper desire to play right back, it reminded me not a month had past since the same dependable young man insisted that a central midfield placement was his natural birth place and home?

Ruminating on such events I recollect a quote from G I Gurdjieff who once remarked this....

"To know means to know all. Not to know all means not to know. In order to know all, it is only necessary to know a little. But, in order to know this little, it is first necessary to know pretty much."

If you are still with me, congratulations, Gurdjieff’s might have considered you worthy of the “awake” tag. So I continue my investigations into this business called Football Management with a sense of trepidation.

You see in football everything is concomitant.

A desire for continuity whilst guarding over complacency. You prize quality whilst thoroughly respecting integrity and dogged commitment! Yet in life everything that’s to be said is often left unsaid and everything actually said really ought to have been left unsaid!

Honesty is a crippling example of such affairs.

An early strong run in the league can be a double edged sword that no flame throwing; knife gurgling circus act would safely swallow. You arrive for KO confident and seem surprised that anyone in their right mind has the indiscretion to question your form and reputation.

“Nobody is above criticism or beneath praise” and “too much of a good thing is good for nothing”! Expressions that repeatedly come to mind and (tongue) so it's therefore reassuring to have an intelligent bunch of U13's who comprehend such concepts yet struggle to understand a Manager's wish to keep bringing it up?

Have I digressed considerably? I shall set aside such inherent conceit and marble on with a humble knowledge that my own football career first began then ended with an innocent game of "curby".

Home to a decent Mayfield Athletic side in the league having comfortably outplayed them a few weeks before, I strolled onto the King Field turf with all the swagger of John Wayne entering a saloon. A quick Jean Claude van Damme warm up and the whistle blew.

What transpired was quite remarkable. A vibrant Knights team caressing a football for 70 minutes of match play.

Goals were fair and evenly distributed between the likes of Max Adams (2) Freddy (1) Ben Roohan (3) Seb (1) Leo (1) Joel (1) Sam Musgrave (1) to finish off a weekend and return a side to top of the table.

Of course we face stiffer competition however if the Knights keep on playing like this I am going to need more washing up liquid in order to clean out the division.
